Automatic Writing is an old form of divination in which messages seem to come out of nowhere through your hand and onto paper. Whether these messages come from the Spirit World or the person's subconscious depends on what you believe personally.
There is no guarantee that automatic writing will work for you, but don't give up if it does not work the first few attempts. Please do be aware of psychological dangers! Some messages that come across can be very disturbing!
Step by Step Instructions
Please keep in mind that this is what works for me.
1. Find a quiet spot without distractions
2. Sit at a table or desk where you'll feel comfortable, with paper and pen
3. Clear your mind
4. Touch pen to paper
5. Try not to consciously write anything
6. While keeping your mind as clear as possible, let your hand write whatever comes across
7. Avoid looking at the paper; you might want to even keep your eyes closed
8. Give it time, nothing may happen at first, be patient
9. When it seems to be done, if it does occur, look over what your hand produced carefully. The writing may appear to be scribble, but try to decipher it as best as possible
10. In addition to letters and numbers, look for pictures or symbols too
11. Keep trying. Nothing may happen the first few times. You may want to cast a circle and call your Spirit Guide in to help you and protect you
12. When it starts, you can try asking questions and see if you get answers
